Brand refresh for the annual State of the Martech report

Design of new graphic elements, infographics and updated data

The challenge

Each year, Clevertouch commissions us to produce their annual report, where the University of Southampton and Clevertouch examine the evolving role of marketing technology (martech) amid economic challenges, shifting priorities, and emerging trends. In a landscape of stagnant growth, tightened budgets, and increased scrutiny on marketing in a post-COVID hybrid world, martech has become a key focus for CMOs. From a design standpoint, our key challenge was refreshing the 5th edition while staying true to the Clevertouch brand and ensuring it aligns seamlessly with the

previous editions.

Our approach

We took a proven approach by dividing the project into phases. Phase 1 focused on designing the cover and a few inside pages, where we developed new graphical elements inspired by Clevertouch’s brand value shapes.

Phase 2 focused on the complete rollout of the 48-page report, where the copy was flowed in to assist with pagination and determine the placement of graphs. At this stage, it was crucial to collaborate closely with the client to ensure the content was structured effectively and read correctly before finalising the graph designs.

The solution for both digital and printed brochure design

For this year's report, we focused on creating a design that was both visually cohesive and aligned with Clevertouch’s brand identity, ensuring clarity and ease of navigation across digital and print formats. The objective was to make the report not only informative but also engaging, allowing readers to easily absorb the content.

 

By carefully planning each phase, from the initial design concepts to the final execution, we produced a high-quality 48-page document. Designed with flexibility in mind, the report provides an excellent reading experience on both digital platforms and in print. This approach helped Clevertouch achieve their goal of delivering a visually striking and highly informative report.
